Mechanical Simulation Engineer
Updated: Sep 17, 2020
Finite element analysis (FEA) engineers are involved in supporting all aspects of structural designing, which involve the use of linear elastic finite element models and composite laminate structures. They ensure that the structure designs and models are developed accordingly and tested under specified test conditions. It is their responsibility to make sure that the developed model meets all essential standards and regulations.
FEA engineer responsibilities comprise structural designing, development, and testing of finite element models designed for engineering purposes. They also verify the structured models and validate its representation of structural behavior. They also have to determine the internal stress and extract interface load of the models, especially near the structural joints. Along with this, they also have to monitor other engineering activities and provide technical solutions based on analysis results for developing an optimal design.
Responsibilities and duties:
Analyze the real cases and create an ideal model in which you simulate the components
Be able to back-up the simulations with old-fashioned hand made calculations
Optimize the form of the components to use as little material as possible
Observe whether a designed component has stress concentrators and come up with solutions to modify the design
Qualifications and skills required:
3D Modelling Skills - CATIA V5
Ansys/ Nastran - Patran
Good knowledge of Strength of Materials
Good knowledge of Machine Elements Design
Good understanding of aerodynamic processes
Good understanding of mechanical simulations
Good understanding of aerodynamic simulations
